Event:President Ford's meeting with two surviving Soviet pilots and the son of the third pilot, who completed the first non-stop transpolar flight from Moscow to Vancouver, Washington in June 1937

Description: Soviet Ambassador Anatole Dobrynin makes a point as President Ford holds a Russian wooden lacquered punch bowl with twelve matching cups that he has received as a gift from Lt. General Aleksandr Belyakov. A Rose Garden ceremony commemorating the aviators's 1937 followed.
